I took this photo in the eastern Sierras, off Highway 395, at the Owens Gorge Road. I love those mailboxes and every time we travel to the Sierras, we drive by them just to see them!

Mesa Verde

We traveled up to Mesa Verde again this summer. We went about 25 years ago, when BOTH of us could go up and down the ladders and take the guided tour of MV. HA! No more! Now we rely on our telephoto lenses! Mesa Verde is truly one of the wonders of the west. How did the Indians get there? How did they get down? How did they build their magnificant houses? Notice the one which is built right into the side of the cliff! Amazing! It was cool the day we stopped there this summer, with a nice breeze. Being up so high, Mesa Verde enjoys a wonderful view off toward the south. We could even see Shiprock in the distance. We stayed in Durango, Colorado, and drove over to MV for the day.

Mesa Verde is a very inspiring place to visit. How the Anasazi did it is beyond my comprehension!
