I took this photo in the eastern Sierras, off Highway 395, at the Owens Gorge Road. I love those mailboxes and every time we travel to the Sierras, we drive by them just to see them!

Though an opening~Mission San Juan Capistrano~Sunday Stills Challenge~030412

I surprised myself by actually taking several photos last weekend through holes.  They were big holes, like arches and doorways, but, hey!  They count, right?  All of these are for Sunday stills Challenge for March 4, 2012.  To visit SSC, please go to:    http://sundaystills.wordpress.com/

Ocean front windows~Whimsical Windows and Delirious Doors~022712

Hubby and I traveled over to Orange County this past weekend so spend a couple of days in San Juan Capistrano.  We woke up Saturday morning and decided to drive up Pacific Coast Highway.  We stopped at Aliso Creek and I looked around at all the windows looking out onto the ocean.  Aren't they amazing?  Here in the desert, we limit our window exposure, especially in the summer months, but at the ocean, windows like these are common.  I enjoyed looking at all the windows this weekend!  Whimsical Windows and Delirious Doors for February 27, 2012. Seagulls~SOOC Sunday~022612

Hubby and I are in San Juan Capistrano for the weekend.  It's his birthday today and he wanted to drive over to Orange County.  So, yesterday morning, we drove up the Pacific Coast highway toward Laguna Beach.  We stopped at Aliso Creek beach along the way.  There were lots of seagulls there and as we approached, they took off!  I was able to capture the chaos!  SOOC Sunday for February 26, 2012.   To visit SOOC Sunday, please go to this link:   http://www.murrieta365.com/2012/02/straight-out-of-camera-sunday_25.html

Nature's frames~Yosemite~Sunday Stills Challenge 012912

I took these photos of Yosemite last summer.  Hubby bought a new laptop and I "inherited" his old one, so I was going through some archived photos there and found this folder.  He transferred all of my other ones to an external hard drive, but this folder was still on the laptop.  I'm glad I found these photos and I can't wait to return to the Sierra this next summer!  Sunday Stills Challenge for January 29, 2012.

Corners~Bodie, CA~Sunday stills Challenge 011512

I do believe that I could use photos from Bodie for every week's Sunday Stills Challenge. Bodie is a California state park. That town is so incredibly photogenic!  This week's challenge was "corners".  I had to go back through our archives to find some of our Bodie photos for this one.  We've been there three times now...once in the later afternoon and twice in the morning.  I always love late afternoon photos, but I think Bodie is best in the morning, before it gets too hot up on the high plateau.  Anyway, here are some photos from Bodie for this week's challenge.  If you've never been to Bodie, I would suggest that you plan on visiting it sometime.  It's like taking a step backward into time.  Bodie is a somewhat preserved old mining town near Bridgeport, CA, up in the Sierras.  It sits up high on a windy plateau, so bring along a sweater.  But, in summer, the sun beats down, so bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat!  You pay to enter the park and then you do a self-guided tour.  There is a gift shop there with many interesting things to see.  Bathrooms are available next to the parking lot (I ALWAYS have to check out where the bathrooms are wherever we are!).  I hope you enjoyed this short tour of some of the corners of Bodie state park. If you wish to visit SSC, please go to:  http://sundaystills.wordpress.com/  Don't you just love the corners of the outhouse?  Imagine having to visit that when it is windy and below zero in winter!  There are so many buildings to see in Bodie, we've actually never seen ALL of them!
