I took this photo in the eastern Sierras, off Highway 395, at the Owens Gorge Road. I love those mailboxes and every time we travel to the Sierras, we drive by them just to see them!

Mono Lake shoreline~Sunday Stills Challenge~101913

Last June, after school was over for the summer, hubby and I headed up to the eastern Sierra for a week of R&R.  We try to get up there at least once every summer and we are finding that we are staying longer and longer.  It used to be 4 days, then 5, then 6, and then it was 8.  We enjoy every minute there.

One afternoon we drove out to Mono Lake, the south tufa.  You can take a short walk from the parking lot out to the lake.  There were quite a few photographers there that afternoon (see the clouds?)  The clouds make for such interesting photos!

So, here are a few of my photos from Mono Lake for Sunday Stills, October 19, 2013.  To visit SS, please go to:  http://sundaystills.wordpress.com/

Barbed wire and meadowlark~Friday's Fences~032213

I FINALLY captured a meadowlark on this barbed wire fence last weekend.  It has taken me over 2 years to get a photo of one of the little buggers!  This guy, however, was quite accommodating.  Friday's Fences for March 22, 2013.  Look at that barbed wire!  To visit Friday's Fences, please go to:   http://lifeaccordingtojanandjer.blogspot.com/

Morning shadows in the desert~Shadow Shot Sunday~021713

I took a two hour walk one day last weekend, after I recovered from my most recent round of the flu.  (Yes, I got a flu shot...sigh...).  Anyway, I love morning and late afternoon light, don't you?  Shadow Shot Sunday for February 17, 2013.  To visit Shadow Shot Sunday, please go to:   http://shadowshotsunday2.blogspot.com/

Bishop petroglyphs 2011

These have now been ruined by vandals and thieves.  We were fortunate to see them in 2011, when they were still intact.

Though an opening~Mission San Juan Capistrano~Sunday Stills Challenge~030412

I surprised myself by actually taking several photos last weekend through holes.  They were big holes, like arches and doorways, but, hey!  They count, right?  All of these are for Sunday stills Challenge for March 4, 2012.  To visit SSC, please go to:    http://sundaystills.wordpress.com/

Ocean front windows~Whimsical Windows and Delirious Doors~022712

Hubby and I traveled over to Orange County this past weekend so spend a couple of days in San Juan Capistrano.  We woke up Saturday morning and decided to drive up Pacific Coast Highway.  We stopped at Aliso Creek and I looked around at all the windows looking out onto the ocean.  Aren't they amazing?  Here in the desert, we limit our window exposure, especially in the summer months, but at the ocean, windows like these are common.  I enjoyed looking at all the windows this weekend!  Whimsical Windows and Delirious Doors for February 27, 2012.
