I took this photo in the eastern Sierras, off Highway 395, at the Owens Gorge Road. I love those mailboxes and every time we travel to the Sierras, we drive by them just to see them!

Pond~Kennedy Meadows~Watery Wednesday 110409

On our last full day in the Sierras, hubby wanted to take the road to Kennedy Meadows, which is a turnoff off Highway 395, south of Lone Pine. We had never been on that road before. It is quite an incline! Once at Kennedy Meadows, however, it leveled out and we saw many nice trails. In fact, we saw some riders on horseback taking advantage of one of them. We came upon this peaceful camping area and found the horse trailers nearby. Watery Wednesday for November 4, 2009.

I have never been to Kennedy Meadows, either. Every time we drive by the turn off I wonder what is up there. Now I've had a glimpse.

Wow - that water is clear! I bet it was cold and refreshing! Love the reflection in the water. I like the angle of this shot, with the little bit of prairie grass framing the left side, and the top third filled with the mountain, trees and other greenery. Nice!
