I took this photo in the eastern Sierras, off Highway 395, at the Owens Gorge Road. I love those mailboxes and every time we travel to the Sierras, we drive by them just to see them!

"Z" is for zinfandel~ABC Wednesday 071410

Hubby and I spent a couple of days up near Sonoma, visiting old vine ZINFANDEL wineries. We LOVE Sausal's wines and spent some time there. That is their tasting room on the bottom and those are pics of their vines out in the vineyards. They are very friendly there and whenever we visit northern California, we stop and sample their wines. ABC Wednesday for July 14, 2010.

It is wonderful to try different wines, especially where they are produced!

Alas, my wine tasting days are over! It sounds - and looks - like a great place.

On behalf of the team, thanks for taking part in ABC Wednesday, Round 6! We hope you'll stick around for Round 7, which begins next week!

From the looks of your photo, it appears the winery has received prizes for its wines. I'll have check them out next time I'm up that way.

There is a GREAT little winery along the wine road on the way to Ferrari Carrano called "Yokum Bridge". David, the winemaker, crafts a nice Zin from the estate grapes. Next time you are up that way, look them up!

Love the pics! I really miss the Sonoma wine regions.

These vines are really old...some are over 100 years old! This winery, unlike so many today, is a family run operation. It's good to see that. They also have a "Cellar Cats" label, but you can find Sausal wines at places like Bev Mo. If you want to see the vines when they are most interesting, I would suggest you drive up in the autumn. Their leaves are turning different shades and, while the grapes are gone, they are interesting to see and photograph. We usually have a family get together during the Christmas holidays as my sister-in-law has her own 10 acres up in Napa.
