Southern California doesn't have many wooden rail fences. Northern California does, but not in our desert areas. It's just too hot and sunny and dry! So, I was thrilled to find this one up in the mountains by my friend Barb's ranch! It is weathered, but still in fairly decent shape. I love to stop by Pinyon on my way to visit my horses. It's about 3,000 feet high and is a pleasant relief from the heat of the desert during the summer. And, this weekend was a warm one, so it was an enjoyable outing! what a nice blog & interesting post.My neighbor, when I was growing up, used to have one of those more suburban type split rail fences. I used to love sitting on it when I was a child.
Your warm weather sounds splendid!
It's amazing to me the fence is in that good of shape in a sunny desert area. Wood here likes to warp and split. I seeing it, though. It reminds me of fences and my uncles house when I was younger.
Great photo! Amazing to see a fence like that anymore. Thanks for the info. Enjoyed the look at your world!
FIrst time I have ever seen a fence like this.
