Header photo

I took this photo in the eastern Sierras, off Highway 395, at the Owens Gorge Road. I love those mailboxes and every time we travel to the Sierras, we drive by them just to see them!

Thursday Challenge: Light December 18,2008

I drove out to the Indian canyons in Palm Springs, CA one November day. The desert was cloudy and the clouds were moving quickly. Shadows were changing and the sunlight was poking through at various times and angles. I snapped a few photos like this one out by the entrance to the Indian canyons. There was a very light mist that afternoon. Hubby and I actually hiked down Palm Canyon the next afternoon, Thanksgiving Day. For more Thursday Challenge photos, please visit:

I could wander in those Canyons forever. I once hiked up to the PCT from that area and once I hiked up Palm Canyon all the way to the Highway that I believe goes to Idylwild. It's really cool to see all the differing vegetation zones and how they change as you go up in elevation. Beautiful area for sure.

it looks desolate - a place to think

I love the contrasts in this photo! The heavy solidity of the rocks, and the airy floating clouds! The light coming through the clouds! A bit of rain against the dryness of the foreground!
Happy New Year!
