Sometimes I forget that, living here in the desert, we are only 10 minutes away from mountains that range from 1,000 to 4,000 feet high. It's just a zip up Highway 74 to a completely different environment. I have a good friend who lives up there, among the pinyon trees, and how I envy her! But, alas, with 5 horses, I need a lot that is bigger than 1 acre, like she has. I drive by these roads and pinyon trees every time I go to visit my own horses, who are further up the mountain, on 9 acres. But, on a day like last Saturday, who could resist the smell of the trees, the beauty of the juniper berries, and the lure of a deserted dirt road? That's My World for Tuesday, October 6, 2009.

I can just smell those trees!
That must have been a wonderful place to hike and I can´t resist it´s lure from these photographs.
That's quite a tall tree in that first shot. The third photo reminds me of an area near our house in Arizona. I certainly do enjoy the desert landscapes. These are great shots!
I would love to follow that road ! Nice post!
This is the time of year that I miss the high desert. Good winter time hiking and biking that we don't get up here in the north.
Great photos and thanks for sharing the trip to the mountains.
